Things we took for granted as performers, that we didn’t even notice

2020 has been an odd year to say the very least. With social distancing easing in the last few weeks, we have noticed something very strange: we’ve taken so much for granted.  As entertainers, we are some of the luckiest people in the world. We get to express ourselves through our art and make a living out of it. However, when the pandemic hit, our luck seem to run out almost over night. No more weekly meetings, no more rehearsals, no more anything.

At Bongo & B, we love every bit of what we do. From meeting new people, to working with our talented roster, we truly are blessed to be in the position we are in. Most people miss seeing live performances, but we as entertainers simply just miss working.

As the restrictions began to ease, and outdoor events began allowing more people to attend, we began receiving calls. On our first event, we noticed something was very different. It was not the fact that everyone was social distancing or was being careful. What was different was the reaction we received not only from the crowd, but from our artists as well.

Being stuck at home was not easy for anyone.  After months of being stuck at home, artists began to realize how much they missed performing. In fact, our own cellist was so ecstatic just to be able to practice with her fellow musicians after so many months. As we performed we took a look at the audience and noticed people were so happy to be there, experiencing live music after such a long time. Live music allowed a small group of people to forget about the world’s problems, even if just for a few minutes.  They cheered, the smiled and some even shed a few tears of happiness. The love that we felt that day reminded us why we got into this business to begin with. We do this out of love to entertain our clientele and provide a platform for our amazing artists to showcase their talent.

We want to thank everyone who has stuck with us through this time. We truly appreciate the support and love we continue to receive. Live music and entertainment truly has a special power to unite us and make us happy.  At Bongo & B, we will continue providing the best live entertainment we can, not only this year, but for many to come. For more information on how we can provide safe live performances, we would be more than happy to arrange a zoom meeting with you to discuss your needs and requests. From all of us at Bongo & B, we wish you all good health and happiness and we look forward to seeing you all again very soon.
